I scripted the behavior of this asset and its sub-components
The Fog Portals are used in the Necropolis and other Nevarra locations. They are a device used to add interest to exploration and to set the tone in the main story. When a player starts to enter the fog portal, their screen gradually turns all white and they eventually emerge from the mists in a new location.
States
Active (Default): Fog spills out from the portal and the player can enter it to be teleported to a specific destination
Destination can be either an active or inactive portal
Inactive: There is no indication that anything is present in the asset's location
More
The player exits the portal at the same angle that they entered it as though they simply passed through a doorway
The player's screen fades to white as they approach the point that teleports them, they can back out before teleportation and the fade disappears relative to the teleportation point
If the player gets close enough to the teleport point and stops, they will be forcibly dragged into the teleport to avoid being stuck with a completely white screen
Portals could be either one way or two
One way portals had a fade of the fog vfx after teleportationÂ
Two way portals maintained fog vfx on both sides
